John Glasgow lived in Peters Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, in 1779. His birth date and origin are unknown.

John made his will on 14 March 1779. It was proved on 3 September 1779, establishing that he died between those dates. Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, Will Book C, p. 161, will of John Glasgow, dated 14 March 1779 and proved 3 September 1779. The volume is identified as Will Book C, 1777-1779, Pennsylvania State Archives roll 1494, in the Cumberland County records guide (https://www.pa.gov/content/dam/copapwp-pagov/en/phmc/documents/archives/research-online/documents/Cumberland.pdf). A published abstract names John's wife Ann; daughters Agnes, possibly Nancy (Glascoe) Wright and a daughter rendered “Lates,” possibly Lettice; son Joseph; and an unborn child. The witnesses were Joseph Glasgow, James Neely and Mary Arter. The adult witness Joseph is a candidate for John's brother and is distinct from John's son Joseph. The original will image should be inspected before treating the uncertain daughter's name or the proposed Nancy/Agnes identification as final.

David Faris's catalogue summary says that Robert Glasgow emigrated to Pennsylvania in 1769 with three brothers and one sister. Arthur, Joseph and Robert are independently identified as brothers.

A later Adams County family-history account identifies this John as their brother and says that Joseph, Robert and Arthur moved to Virginia after John's death. This is a secondary family-history account. Joseph Glasgow's appearance as a witness to John's will supplies a contemporary association, and the proposed relationship fits Faris's count of four brothers.

Neither the witness relationship nor the later family account is primary proof that John was their brother. He has been attached to the proposed sibling group and parents with uncertain relationship status pending stronger evidence.

A generation later, William Glasgow, son of John's proposed brother Robert Glasgow, married Rhoda Neely Montgomery. The couple also used the name for a daughter, Rhoda Neely Glasgow. A published Adams County family account identifies William and Rhoda and separately identifies John as brother of Robert, Arthur and Joseph.
