Robert Glasgow
1797 – 31 March 1868
Ballymoney, Antrim, Londonderry (Derry), Ireland
About Robert
Robert Glasgow died on 31 March 1868 in Ballymoney Workhouse, County Antrim, a married labourer aged 71, according to the civil death register entry viewed on GRONI and adopted for this profile; his profile gives his birth as about 1797. The death entry is a weak fit for the Lisnagaver tithe farmer of 1834 and neither confirms nor excludes him as that man. A Belfast News-Letter report of 1861 naming Robert Glasgow, a neighbour at Lisnagaver, was withdrawn as a candidate on 6 October 2026 because that man was probably Robert Glasgow (Glasgow-938).

Source findings — GRONI death image, 23 September 2026
Death register image viewed on GRONI (D/1868/27/1005/2/324, Ballymoney entry 324): died 31 March 1868 in Ballymoney Workhouse; married labourer, 71; cancer, one year. The informant was John Stewart, workhouse officer. This is a weak fit for the 1834 Lisnagaver tithe farmer or the citation brother Robert; the entry neither confirms nor excludes either identity. Live profile updated 23 September 2026: exact date and workhouse place set as certain, and a research note added.
Source findings

It states no Glasgow age, parents or occupation.
Identity and family
Identity assessment
Robert Glasgow-938 and Robert Glasgow-3449 remain compatible candidates. Robert-938’s later Scottish death is not a conflict with Irish residence in 1861. The notice does not establish that its man was either candidate, the Gortereghy valuation holder, or a relative of the named M’Caughern household.
Identity assessment — newspaper candidates withdrawn, 6 October 2026
- Belfast News-Letter, 1861-01-07, p.4: no longer a candidate for this profile. Accident report (Belfast News-Letter, 7 Jan 1861) from Rasharkin: Robert Glasgow, a neighbour at Lisnagaver, warned James M'Caughern about a dangerous gable, escaped its fall and raised the alarm. Robert is probably Glasgow-938, who lived at Lisnagaver in 1851 and 1866. James M'Caughern is unresolved. No kin are stated.
