Summary of the research

Overall conclusion

Hugh Glasgow, 23, weaver of Liminary, married Ann Wilson in 1852, and Eliza Glasgow, 21, of Liminary, married William Montgomery in 1854. Both named a father Hugh Glasgow, weaver. They are proved children of an elder Hugh and are plausible siblings of Mary, but Mary's register supplies no residence and does not prove that all three named the same man.

Relationship correction

Detach Joseph Glasgow as Mary's father. The register explicitly names Hugh. If this Mary is Robert's census niece, Hugh is Robert's probable brother. A second record linking Mary or Hugh specifically to Glenleslie is still required before that sibling relationship is treated as proved.

Mary's son John is proved only by his presence as informant at her 1898 death. No Ballymena birth, marriage, 1901 Crankill household, or age-compatible later record has yet connected a John Montgomery to parents Thomas Montgomery and Mary Glasgow. He may have been born before civil birth registration began in 1864. The inspected 1893 Ballymena death of a Thomas Montgomery describes a widower and therefore cannot be Mary's husband, because Mary lived until 1898.
