About Sarah

Sarah's original 1885 marriage directly proves that she was a daughter of Thomas Glasgow, farmer, and lived at Lisnagaver. Civil registrations prove her marriage to Charles Taylor and at least five children there; a contemporary notice adds John Glasgow Taylor as another probable son. The newly inspected 1893 birth of Sarah Taylor, daughter of Charles Taylor and Sarah formerly Glasgow, resolves the apparent contradiction in Mary Ann Glasgow's 1914 Lisnagaver death return. The informant called Mary Ann's Grand-daughter can naturally be the younger Sarah, then aged 20. The death return does not state which Sarah Taylor it means, so that identification is a strong inference rather than a literal statement; no clerical-error theory is now needed.

Source findingsKilrea school register — 6 October 2026

The published Kilrea Girls' National School register, entry 53, records in 1871 Sarah Glasgow, aged 9, residence "Ballyconley", parent or guardian "Widow"; the religion column is blank. Sarah's father Thomas (Glasgow-987) died on 21 June 1870, and his widow Mary Ann later held the Ballydonnelly flax-mill plot. The entry probably records this Sarah, living with her widowed mother the year after her father died. It gives a birth about 1861–62. The townland spelling is the transcriber's, the original register has not been seen, and no father is named, so the identification is probable, not proved.

Searches completed and remaining gaps
  • The original 1893 Sarah Taylor birth image was inspected. It closes the apparent 1914 relationship contradiction without changing the direct proof that the elder Sarah was Thomas Glasgow's daughter.
  • The younger Sarah's later identity has not yet been traced. A 1901/1911 household and any later marriage or death should confirm whether she remained at Lisnagaver through January 1914.

Searches completed and remaining gaps

- The original 1893 Sarah Taylor birth image was inspected. It closes the
  apparent 1914 relationship contradiction without changing the direct proof
  that the elder Sarah was Thomas Glasgow's daughter.
- The younger Sarah's later identity has not yet been traced. A 1901/1911
  household and any later marriage or death should confirm whether she remained
  at Lisnagaver through January 1914.

### Kilrea school register — 6 October 2026

The published [Kilrea Girls' National School register](https://genealogy.torrens.org/BannValley/church/KilreaCOI/NatSchoolGirls.html), entry 53, records in 1871 **Sarah Glasgow**, aged 9, residence "Ballyconley", parent or guardian "Widow"; the religion column is blank. Sarah's father Thomas (Glasgow-987) died on 21 June 1870, and his widow Mary Ann later held the Ballydonnelly flax-mill plot. The entry probably records this Sarah, living with her widowed mother the year after her father died. It gives a birth about 1861–62. The townland spelling is the transcriber's, the original register has not been seen, and no father is named, so the identification is probable, not proved.

Add the school entry as a probable record and review the birth estimate: age 9 in 1871 and her mother's residence point to an Irish birth about 1861–62. Not saved on WikiTree.
