Sarah Jane Rebecca Majors was born into what became an illustrious family. She arrived December 28, 1839 in Libertyville, Iowa Nebraska death certificate states birth date just 13 months after her father Sterling Perry Majors married Ann Brown in Lee County, Iowa Iowa, US Compiled Marriages, 1835-1850 accessed at Ancestry.com https://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?indiv=1&dbid=2088&h=105315&ssrc=pt&tid=102838521&pid=230047339816 . 10 siblings followed her, the most famous of which was her younger brother Thomas Jefferson Majors who had a truly remarkable career.
Family
Her family lived in Libertyville, Iowa where on May 6, 1858 she married William Gilbert Glasgow. They had eight children, seven of whom lived to adulthood:

* William Gilbert Glasgow, Jr (1869 - 1947)
* Jessie (Glasgow) Houston (1872 - 1914)
* Sara "Sadie" Glasgow (1875 - 1946)
Residences and Life
Shortly thereafter they moved to Peru, Nebraska which was just very recently opened to white settlers - they were among the early pioneers in Nemaha County. 1860 United States Federal Census, Nebraksa Territory, Nemaha County, accessed at Ancestry.com here https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/7667/images/4234830_00418?pId=44329113 

During the Civil War she and William were part of the Underground Railroad (mentioned in one book and also in Sarah's obituary) Nemaha County Herald (Auburn, Nebraska) 27 Jun 1924, p 1 probably working with John Brown who helped establish the 'station' in Brownville by the Missouri river. It is possible that they helped escaping slaves 'belonging' to Sarah's cousin Alexander Majors (founder of the Pony Express) who was a slaveholder across the river.

After William died in Peru in 1900 at the age of 69 Nebraska Advertiser (Brownville, Nebraska) 10 Aug 1900 , she stayed on in Peru, taking on boarders (1910 census) and then living with her daughter Sarah (always called Sadie) who was a schoolteacher.

She is buried next to her husband in Mount Vernon Cemetery in Peru, Nebraska.
