Biography
Early Life
William Gilbert Glasgow was born in Brush Creek, Adams, Ohio on November 8, 1831 and was baptized on March 4, 1832, at the Presbyterian church in Brush Creek. Presbyterian Church Records of Adams Cou:nty, Ohio 1831-1861: Marriages, Baptisms and Communion service records kept by the Reverend Dr. David Steele, the minister for the Brush Creek Congregation. 

By 1856, he had moved west to Des Moines, Iowa with his parents. Family
By May 6, 1858 he had relocated to Libertyville, Iowa where on that date, he married Sarah Jane Rebecca Majors. She was 19 and he was 25. They had eight children, seven of whom lived to adulthood:

Residences and Occupation

In 1861, he became one of the initial State Representatives for Nebraska. Nebraska Advertise (Brownville, Nebraska) 12 Sep 1861 

He joined the Union forces in April, 1862. Nebraska Advertiser (Brownville, Nebraska) 10 Apr 1862 

By 1863, he had been elected as Sheriff of Nemaha County, Dundas, John H.. Nemaha County. United States, n.p, 1902 

1865 he was elected as a Councilman. Nebraska Advertiser (Brownville, Nebraska) 6 Apr 1865 

In 1868, he and his father-in-law, Sterling Majors, were part of Nebraska's Republican delegation. Nebraska Advertiser (Brownville, Nebraska) 17 Sep 1868 

He became Sheriff of Brownville in 1869, by a vote of 46-9 (HUGE metropolis!). Nebraska Advertiser (Brownville, Nebraska) 30 Sep 1869

Death & Burial
William died in Peru, Nemaha, Nebraska on August 8, 1900, having had a long and successful life. Nebraska Advertiser (Brownville, Nebraska) 10 Aug 1900
