About Elizabeth

William Glasgow is now the strongest possible father or close older kinsman. The 1526 Sandilands of Calder remission places William immediately beside Alexander Kano; the official catalogue spelling and the later Kaine are plausible variants of the same uncommon man. In 1552 Elizabeth Glasgow was Alexander Kaine's widow and occupied Easter Corswood, itself a holding in the Sandilands barony of Calder. This husband-to-proposed-father and widow-to-estate recurrence is strong evidence for a close Glasgow-Kaine relationship, but it does not distinguish William's daughter from sister, niece or another female kinswoman. If a structured father link to William is retained, it must remain uncertain.

Publicly available printed register images corroborate the existing 1526 remission (RSS I no. 3412) and 1552 Easter Corswood occupation (RMS IV no. 739). They are not images of the Torphichen manuscripts. No public original image or transcript of GD119/193–205 was located. The Calder association remains strong, but those printed clauses do not identify Elizabeth's father or the mechanism by which the tenancy passed. Inspect the underlying title/estate instruments for a household or succession bridge; a literal daughter formula is not the only potentially sufficient evidence.

Parentage assessment

The repeated Elizabeth/Bessie name in two branches descending from Ninian is now secondary. The Sandilands-Kano evidence supplies a much earlier and more direct network: Elizabeth's husband is probably the Alexander grouped immediately with William Glasgow in 1526, and Elizabeth later remained on their patron's estate.

There are substantial cautions:

The official 1526 catalogue reads Kano, the published register appears to read Kame, and the 1552 Great Seal abstract reads Kaine. The same-person identification is strong but not explicit across the records.
Elizabeth was a common given name and could derive from either granddaughter's maternal family.
William could have been Elizabeth's father, brother, uncle or other close kinsman; the evidence proves the social/estate connection, not the degree.
No record calls Elizabeth Robert's daughter or Ninian's sister.
