Current conclusion

The original testament identifies Katherine as the spouse of **Thomas Weir of
the parish of Stevenston**, says she died in **January 1603**, and was confirmed
on **9 May 1605**. Fresh visual review on 10 September 2026 reads
**“the nynt day of may 1605”** on NRS CC9/7/4 image 7, superseding the
earlier **[26?]** reading and agreeing with Findmypast and Grant. This is not a death or marriage date. The existing
[Thomas Weir profile (Weir-4172)](https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Weir-4172)
has now been repurposed for this record-defined Stevenston husband: its former
structured 1590 Aberdeen birth was replaced by an uncertain birth before 1580.
Retain that profile as Katherine's spouse and do not restore the unrelated
Aberdeen identity. The biography captured on 7 September still says that
Thomas was born about 1590, so the complete replacement remains required.
Katherine's captured structured death still uses 9 May 1605 as a ''before''
boundary; the original testament instead records her death in January 1603.

The attached uncertain father,
[James Glasgow younger (Glasgow-3921), born before 1542, Corsankell](https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Glasgow-3921),
is chronologically and geographically plausible but remains unproved. The
testament calendar names no parent.

William, James and probably Jonet Weir were the three minor executors, with Thomas
acting in their names. Their shared surname, minority and Thomas's
representation make them **very probably Katherine and Thomas's children**.
The parentage remains probable rather than explicit because the surviving
wording does not call any of them son or daughter. Complete local and live
duplicate audits found no compatible profile for any of the three. Separate
creation-ready drafts now preserve the probable parentage and uncertain
Stevenston birth-location inference without presenting either as direct fact.

The testament begins at the bottom of image 6; most of that image belongs to
another estate. The debts name James, Earl of Glencairn, and Mr Alexander
Campbell, minister at Stevenston. Other qualified readings are [Bryce?] Blair
of [Lochwood?], Archibald [Muir?], John Weir in an unresolved `Nether …`
locality, servant John [Wicht/Wight?], and [Jean Doun?], another servant. The

Child duplicate audit and creation drafts

The local One Tree audit covered the Glasgow exports dated 22 July, 6 August
and 18 August 2026, including the separate `Glasco` export. No William, James,
Jonet or Janet candidate appeared; Thomas occurred only as Katherine's embedded
spouse. The live WikiTree audit on 8 September 2026 paged every result for the
following combinations and reconciled each returned page to the reported
total:

result was attached to [[Weir-4172|Thomas]] or
[[Glasgow-1495|Katherine]]. Their live profiles also currently have no attached
children.

The most plausible-looking undated results were resolved through their full
family context. William profiles [[Weir-6]] and [[Weir-6977]] are living or
self profiles; [[Weir-1046]] has parents born in 1792 and 1798; [[Weir-273]]
has parents born in 1900 and 1904; [[Weir-427]] and [[Weir-431]] belong to a
family containing a son or brother born in 1841; [[Weir-636]] had a daughter
born in 1883; and [[Weir-569]] has a conflicting attached mother, Elizabeth
Cambell. [[Weir-1045]] represents the distinctly named William Hamilton Weir
and supplies no Stevenston, Scottish or parental bridge.

The private James results were also modern: [[Wear-646]], [[Weir-5309]],
[[Weir-5836]] and [[Weir-6180]] are living or self profiles; the families of
[[Weir-2996]], [[Weir-3860]] and [[Weir-3926]] belong to the twentieth
century. For the female executor, [[Weir-3387]] has a twentieth-century husband
and child, [[Weir-5084]] is a living or self profile, [[Weir-295]] had a child
born in 1826 and [[Wier-99]] married a man born in 1742. The dated Scottish
candidates were later generations.

Recommended correction and current live state

Earlier live work established birth about 1565 and retained Glasgow-3921 only
as an uncertain father. The current captured biography also retains Thomas as
husband and removes the former speculative manuscript narrative. The newly
read testament correction is not yet fully live: Katherine's structured death
still uses 9 May 1605 as a ''before'' boundary and must be corrected to January
1603, with Stevenston uncertain as a residence-derived place. The complete
replacement draft must reflect the resolved 9 May confirmation date and identifies the
three minors as probable children rather than unrelated associates or
explicitly proved children. Their duplicate audits are complete and all three
creation drafts include paste-ready profile text.

The former 1580 estimate had no record basis. About 1565 is a more useful
working estimate for a woman whose testament was confirmed in 1605 and whose
possible father was an adult tenant in 1559-60. This resolves WikiTree's
chronology warning without suppressing it; the father link remains uncertain.
