The 12 September editorial review corrects the website's unassessed tree flags for both parents using entry 106 and the existing 1837–1844 baptism sequence; it does not supply a forename or turn the inferred death boundary into a recorded event.

The same return omits Alexander's daughter Mary (Glasgow-3167), who was certainly living: she married in 1871 and appears in the 1901 and 1911 censuses. A search of the surviving 1851 returns on 6 October 2026 found no child Mary Glasgow of suitable age elsewhere in Rasharkin parish, and she is not among house 35's absent members or deaths. The return was therefore not a complete list of the couple's living children.
"Probably died before 1841" is withdrawn. The child's fate is unknown.

So the 1851 return does not record this unnamed 1838 child as dying between 1841 and 1851. That fits either death before 1841 or survival elsewhere, and does not support "died before 1841". Samuel Glasgow of Franklin/Blissfield, Michigan, is not a credible match on
current evidence. The theory arose from approximate age, Irish birth and his
presence in the same Michigan county as the possible later James. Those are
weak cluster clues. They do not overcome the 1851 family return, the absence of
any American parent or County Antrim statement, or the impossible cemetery
birth transcription 29 February 1838.
Do not rename Glasgow-3940 as Samuel, attach the Michigan wife, or add a
migration claim. The Michigan records are retained under Alexander's sources
as a rejected-candidate audit.
Identity assessment — is the 1838 child Mary?
Mary's reported ages (28 at marriage in 1871, 60 in 1901, 72 in 1911) place her birth between about 1838 and 1843. The baptism sequence leaves little room after 1840: Robert was born about 1840–41 and the second James on 9 October 1843. The 1838 entry is the open place in the family, and Mary is its leading candidate. This is not proved. The published transcription gives no forename or sex. Do not merge Glasgow-3940 with Glasgow-3167 until the original register entry (PRONI MIC1P/292, entry 106) has been read.
