James Glasgow

Biography
James Glasgow was born on 9 October 1843 at Lisnagaver, County Antrim, Ireland, a son of Alexander Glasgow and Mary or Molly McCaughan. The published transcription of the Rasharkin Presbyterian register records his baptism on 7 January 1844 and names his parents as Alex Glasgow and Molly McAughern. Dromore identification
A James Glasgow did occupy a house and small garden at plot 18b in Dromore, Rasharkin parish. The original PRONI valuation-revision books carry that name on the same holding from `VAL/12/B/3/13A` (1863-79) through `VAL/12/B/3/13C` (1891-1901). This continuing local valuation identity is unlikely to be the Tecumseh man, who was documented in Michigan by 1869 and reported residence there from about 1866. Revision-book names can lag an occupier's departure, however, and the Dromore man's identity has not been proved. The earlier Rasharkin valuation transcription (https://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/antrim/rasharkin.htm) did not expose this entry; the original PRONI revision books supersede that negative search while the transcription remains a useful finding aid.
The unnamed 1838 sibling
The unnamed child baptised in 1838 should not be renamed Samuel or identified with Samuel Glasgow of Franklin and Blissfield, Michigan. Alexander's 1851 return lists no such child as resident, absent or dead since 1841, and no American record inspected names Samuel's parents or County Antrim.
Dromore occupier candidate
A James Glasgow occupied property at Dromore in the Rasharkin valuation revisions between 1863 and 1879. The locality and age make this James a plausible candidate, but the valuation gives no parentage and the identification remains unproved.
