Summary of the research

Overall conclusion

Protocol 2916 of 1 September 1586 directly calls Margaret Herbesoun the mother of George Glasgow-1099, son and heir of William Glasgow-3522. No located record names Barbara Glasgow-567 as Margaret's daughter. Retain Barbara's existing link as uncertain while looking for a connecting record; George's parentage is directly proved.

The attached father, Sir William Herbesoun (Herbison-440), is not proved and the surrounding live Herbesoun pedigree contains a direct structural error. Protocol 1618 of 18 February 1568/69 calls Sir William and George Herbertsone brothers german. Sir William therefore cannot simultaneously be the son of the same George represented by Herbertson-133. Sir William's 1586 curatorship of Margaret's minor son proves a close family connection but does not identify him as Margaret's father. Margaret could instead have been a sister, niece or other close kinswoman of Sir William and George.

Protocol 2916 of 1 September 1586 directly calls Margaret Herbesoun the mother
of George `Glasgow-1099`, son and heir of William `Glasgow-3522`. No located
record names Barbara `Glasgow-567` as Margaret's daughter. Retain Barbara's
existing link as uncertain while looking for a connecting record; George's
