For Johne Muir, testament evidence excludes a tailor dead by 1640 and a mariner dead by 1642, while several other John Muirs survived past 1645. Godfather candidate audit

James Cunningham, merchant and burgess admitted in Glasgow in 1629, died before
his testament was confirmed on 31 January 1642 and cannot be the 1645
godfather. Several other contemporary James Cunninghams remain possible, but no
record links one to Jonet. For Johne Muir, testament evidence excludes a tailor
dead by 1640 and a mariner dead by 1642, while several other John Muirs survived
past 1645. The witnesses are useful FAN evidence, but neither has yet been
identified and neither supplies Jonet's parentage.

Recommended correction applied

Verified live **19 August 2026**: the 1624 birth is marked about/uncertain and
the unsupported Scotland birthplace has been removed. The uncertain Scottish-
child/Kilwaughter identity links remain explicitly qualified.

Recommended correction following location audit

Retain or restore **Scotland** as Jonet's uncertain birthplace. The proposed
Scottish-to-Kilwaughter identity remains unresolved, but no reviewed evidence
concretely conflicts with Scotland as a broad, uncertain location.
