The corrected reading of Andrew Glasgow's 1597/8 testament does not name a son James. It expressly names Robert Glasgow as Andrew and Elizat Stevinsoun's son, followed by daughters Marion, Janet and Isobel. The previous placement of this James under Andrew Glasgow therefore loses its only direct premise and should remain, at most, an unsupported/uncertain cluster link while an evidenced correction is prepared.

Identity assessment — same-name leads not connected to James, 8 September 2026

A James Glas, son of Alexander Glas, was baptised at Perth on 19 January 1575 (Old Parish Register, Perth, 387/10, p. 172, as cited from FamilySearch tree person LZGY-NSY; the register entry was not seen). Before 1600 the Scottish year began on 25 March, so the date may be 1575/76. No evidence carries that child into the Mid Calder or Inveresk records, and an Inveresk birth and a wife attached to James elsewhere have not been shown to belong to this profile; neither should be used for him.

Jonet Glasgow's marriage to Martin Ramsy at Mid Calder in 1624 is indexed at FamilySearch XY9X-4PR. Andrew Glasgow's testament (CC8/8/32) was made on 6 February 1597/8 and confirmed on 10 July 1598.
