On 12 June 1739, the Belfast News-Letter listed a vessel named John and Archibald, Thomas Hendry master, described as “all of and from Irvine” and carrying coal.[^1] This is a plausible lead linking the 1739 vessel to the one in 1754, but it is not proof by itself. The same name plus Irvine context is a specific lead, not definitive identity proof.

The report dated St John's, Antigua, 15 February 1754 ("Last Tuesday arrived here, in Distress, the Snow John and Archibald, of Glasgow, Robert Glasgow, Master …") was printed in The Maryland Gazette, no. 466 (Annapolis, 11 April 1754), Maryland State Archives, Maryland Gazette Collection MSA SC 2731, M1279, images 472–473 (front page; report page), and in The Dublin Gazette, no. 400 (25–29 June 1754), Oireachtas Library DGZ/1754/400 (digital item). The reviewed draft records both page images as accessed on 7 August 2026.

The report says the snow was sailing from Virginia to Glasgow. On 24 January 1754, at latitude 32°15′, she met a W.S.W. gale and sprang a leak. Lightning split the main-topmast while men were setting a double-reefed main topsail; two men were thrown into the sea and lost, one man on deck was killed and another disabled. Six people remained aboard when they bore away for St John's, Antigua. Proved for the voyage and Robert's command only; the report gives no age, birthplace or family for him.

Davidson-20783 retains only Glasgow-3011 as her uncertain husband. Glasgow-2867 still has uncertain father links to Christian Glasgow (Glasgow-3492), John Glasgow (Glasgow-3491) and James Glasgow (Glasgow-2868); these require a separate controlled reparenting rather than leaving any child without a father. A fresh public API read on 10 September 2026 confirms that all three children still have Glasgow-2867 as their uncertain father. The same read confirms Glasgow-3011 as Margaret Davidson's husband and father of Isobell Glasgow (Glasgow-4062). The report dated St John's, Antigua, 15 February 1754 ("Last Tuesday arrived here, in Distress, the Snow John and Archibald, of Glasgow, Robert Glasgow, Master …") was printed in *The Maryland Gazette*, no. 466 (Annapolis, 11 April 1754), Maryland State Archives, Maryland Gazette Collection MSA SC 2731, M1279, images 472–473 ([front page](https://www.msa.maryland.gov/megafile/msa/speccol/sc4800/sc4872/001279/html/m1279-0472.html); [report page](https://www.msa.maryland.gov/megafile/msa/speccol/sc4800/sc4872/001279/html/m1279-0473.html)), and in *The Dublin Gazette*, no. 400 (25–29 June 1754), Oireachtas Library DGZ/1754/400 ([digital item](https://www.virtualtreasury.ie/item/DGZ-1754-400)). The reviewed draft records both page images as accessed on 7 August 2026.

The report says the snow was sailing from Virginia to Glasgow. On 24 January 1754, at latitude 32°15′, she met a W.S.W. gale and sprang a leak. Lightning split the main-topmast while men were setting a double-reefed main topsail; two men were thrown into the sea and lost, one man on deck was killed and another disabled. Six people remained aboard when they bore away for St John's, Antigua. **Proved** for the voyage and Robert's command only; the report gives no age, birthplace or family for him.

The dates 1690–1759 and "Buried or Lost at Sea" rest only on [Find a Grave memorial 223820967](https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/223820967/robert_glasgow); it cites no contemporary record identifying the memorialised man as master of the *John and Archibald*. **Unsupported** as evidence for this profile.

Exact index dates for the separate Glencorse family (Robert Glasgow and Margaret Davidson, Glencorse 687): John, 1 January 1710 (`10/93`); Isobell, 26 December 1714 (`10/106`); James, 14 February 1720 (`10/121`, mother as Davidsone); Christian, 1708 ([FamilySearch VQ4J-CB3](https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VQ4J-CB3)).
