National Records of Scotland, Edinburgh Commissary Court, CC8/8/8, images 355–356 (original register, as read for the replacement biography): the inventory describes a modest farming household (two cows, two one-year-old heifers, sheep including hoggis, six bolls of oats in the barn and barnyard, utensils, furnishings and her clothing), totalling £47 14s 8d Scots. Debts owed to her were £8 from James Estoun in Wester Whitburn and 50 shillings from a debtor read provisionally as Michael Mertyn, £10 10s in all, giving a gross estate of £58 4s 8d. She owed 20 shillings to Roland Dundas for a year's teind on the ground. The free estate of £57 4s 8d was divided in two and the deceased's part recorded as £28 12s 4d; the arithmetic reconciles. The confirmation names the Edinburgh commissaries Edward Henryson and Alexander Sym. Some stock quantities and the name Mertyn remain provisional.
