The 1831 Loughinsholin freeholder is a possible match only (lowered from 'strong compatible' by the newspaper identity review of 6 October 2026, below): no townland or family detail proves the identity, and the PRONI freeholders' records show no Robert Glasgow registered in County Londonderry. The 16 August 1831 declaration lists Robert Glasgow and John Glasgow among freeholders of the barony printed Loughinshollen (modern Loughinsholin), County Londonderry, supporting Sir Robert Bateson. They are co-signatories; no kinship, occupation, age or individual townland is given. Castledawson and 4 July 1831 refer to the opposing meeting discussed in the declaration, not their homes or their signing date.

Robert Glasgow-3941, the Coltrim land occupier documented in 1820–1831, is a strong compatible regional candidate; the newspaper lacks a townland or family bridge to prove it. Glasgow-2656 of the Cookstown district remains another adult comparison. Glasgow-12 has an Ohio record sequence and is a weaker comparison despite Moneymore origin; the newspaper does not resolve his travel or retained Irish property. No Robert is identified as John’s father or brother, or as the surgeon’s father, from this signature.

Identity assessment — Irish newspaper extension,4 October 2026

The surgeon’s father Robert was dead by20 May 1834. The Coltrim occupier documented through 1831 is compatible by chronology, but no surgeon-son or Cookstown bridge identifies him. He also remains a possible living 1836/1840 contact or 1856 mill father because his death is unknown; these are alternative assignments, not simultaneous established identities. Do not attach the surgeon or mill son until the relevant identity is proved.

William Macafee's Emigrants from Co. Londonderry 1834 to 1835 (from the Ordnance Survey Memoirs), p. 32, lists James Glasgow [Glasco], male, aged 29, of Coltrim, Lissan, Presbyterian, destination New York, 1834; and William Glasgow [Glasco], male, aged 29, of Coltrim, Lissan, Presbyterian, destination New York, 1835 (table record 1263, original record 1658). Seen as a published transcription. Both men were born about 1805 and left the townland where Robert headed a large household in 1831, but the lists name no parent, and their adjacency in the table is editorial (surname order), not evidence that they travelled together or were brothers. Do not attach either as Robert's son without a relational record; a New York record would need to agree on Coltrim or Lissan, age and arrival year.

The 1796 Flax Growers' list for County Tyrone (same year) contains exactly one Robert of the surname: 'Glasgow, Robert, Lissan'. Lissan parish adjoins Cookstown (Derryloran) to the north. Glasgow-3941 is built on that flax entry and later Lissan records (Drapers' Company lease of Coltrim 1820, Lissan tithe 1827, 1831 census at Coltrim, Presbyterian). So the name, year and district agree. It stays possible rather than probable for two reasons. A Cookstown reward subscription was a town and gentry list, and the Registry of Deeds has a 'Robert Glasgow junior, gent.' of Cookstown in 1817 (memorial 488398, cited in research/Glasgow-2915), which implies a Robert senior in Cookstown who has no profile and is an equally good fit. Also, the flax list does not record every resident. Other candidates: Glasgow-1189 (Robert, est. b. 1769 Tyrone, in New York by 1803) is possible, with no parish.
