Family relationships

Betham’s abstract of Archibald Glasgow of Rathmalton, clerk, whose will was dated April 1673, names his wife Elizabeth, Thomas Glasgow as eldest son and Margaret as only daughter. Margaret’s husband is an unnamed Cairns, and Thomas Cairns is her son.

Finding qualified

Betham’s pre-destruction derivative abstract was inspected, not the original will. The father–son statement is explicit; identification of the son with Glasgow-3556 remains strongly probable, with no residence or estate bridge. Elizabeth’s surname remains provisional.
